Education and Advancement

At Manatee Memorial Hospital, we want you to pursue nursing as a lifelong career. That is why we offer a variety of programs and opportunities to help you learn, grow, and advance your nursing career.

Student Nurse Assistant Program

The Student Nurse Assistant Program (SNAP) allows student nurses to start their career at Manatee Memorial Hospital while still in nursing school. SNAP applicants must complete the first semester of a nursing program to include nursing fundamentals at an accredited Nursing school for an Associate of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and maintain concurrent enrollment in a Registered Nursing program. SNAP employees are afforded flexible scheduling to accommodate program obligations while earning competitive wages. As a SNAP employee, you will obtain hands on exposure and clinical experience within the acute care environment and enhance your knowledge and skills as you move from student to professional nurse. Once you graduate and pass the National Council Licensure Examination and are offered and accept a RN position, you will automatically transition into the Nurse Residency & Academy Program at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Nurse Residency and Academy Program

This year-long program will help you transition from a nursing student to a nursing professional under the guidance and mentorship of clinical nursing staff, nurse educators, and program facilitators. This process includes a didactic and simulated learning experience combined with hands-on training in a clinical practice environment. The goal of the Nurse Residency and Academy Program is to inspire passion and excitement about your new role while creating a social network to foster a sense of community, support, resiliency and professional development.

New Employee and Department Orientation

All newly hired nurses attend an orientation to learn about the culture at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Our dedicated and highly qualified clinical hospital educators and nurse preceptor team will make sure you have the information and training you need to succeed in your new career.

Grow Your Own

We love to acknowledge exceptional nurses who utilize a wide range of knowledge, skills and competencies. The Grow Your Own (GYO) program at Manatee Memorial Hospital is designed to reward quality patient care professionals and enhance both clinical and professional growth by keeping our high performing nursing employees engaged through offering opportunities for growth. RNs are eligible to participate in the GYO program nine months after the completion of orientation.
