Serving Children in Our Community
For more than seven decades, the staff at Manatee Memorial Hospital has provided medical services for children in Manatee and surrounding areas. From our Emergency Care Center to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Department, we have the health of our children covered.
Emergency Care Center
Manatee Memorial Hospital's Emergency Care Center plays an essential role in caring for the urgent health needs of our community, treating more than 80,000 children and adult patients each year. We opened a new Emergency Care Center in December 2018 to help accommodate Manatee County's growing population. The center is just under 33,000 square feet, making it the largest and newest Emergency Care Center in the county.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The Manatee Memorial Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is Manatee County's only Level II NICU and has the advanced technology to care for tiny and special care babies. Neonatologists and neonatal professionals, including nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists and breastfeeding specialists are here to provide the care needed in the NICU.
Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Department
The Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Department consists of a team of occupational, physical and speech therapists that work with patients newborn to 18 years who have gross motor, fine motor, speech or language delays, sensory integration difficulties or feeding and swallowing problems. Individual therapy programs are designed for each child with a strong focus on family education. This program is conveniently located on the ground floor of the hospital.
